The game took place in 1875 between the Athletes and the Pensacolas. Baseball had been growing in popularity since being played at Punahou School in the 1860s. But it is unclear whether Cartwright actually instituted the playing of the game on the islands."

    Inman managed 1940 Hawaiian National team in Amateur World Series:
    team had former pros in Johnny Kerr, Pat Gleason, and Herbert North. North won the first pro game in Japanese history (!!!!) North had pitched for Paramount Cubs in 1935. 
1916-3-27 Oahu Leaguers (25th Infantry excepted) did not have their hearts in series v. Olympics. Cared about lucre, not winning. Some even demanded money for their play. Of gate receipts from series v. Olympics, 20% will go to the teams. The All-Chinese will receive an extra 10% of the 20% that will be divvied up between them, the Saints, the Honolulus, and the 25th Infantry. There is no good reason for this. 
    Oahu League president resigns, charging players of lackluster "5 o'clock" spirit. Also, J.A.C. representative had been unfairly turned down in application for team when magnate told him to "go and get a reputation."
