Dick Spalding broke into organized ball with the Phillies in 1927, at the age of 33. He hit .296 in 115 games, but didn't hit a single homer. He spent two more years in the pros, hitting .341 for the Baltimore Orioles in 64 games in 1928 and .301 in the International League in 1929. He was also a soccer star, and is in the National Soccer Hall of Fame.
