Bugs Hersche

listed as Fred Herche. In IL 1914-19 - very good 1918-19.

1926 pic Appeared in an ad endorsing Trilling's Gasoline

1918-4-01 Has been purchased by Toronto from Montreal. "A first-class comedian of the Nick Altrock type."
1918-9-12 signed by Phoenix of Buffalo Semi-Pro League to pitch against Pittsburgh Stars.
1922-2-19 last year playing with Oil City Hersche pitched nine games in nine days, each played in a different city. He won eight of them. Gives good account.
1923-7-24 Bugs Hersche was very popular with Hornell fans last season - until he abandoned them near the end of the campaign.
1924-1-08 signed by Canton. Is also a great batter.
1924-8-20 Along with Ben Shaw arrived to play with Mahanoy City. Both played with Canton of the Midwest League this year. Shaw has formerly played with PIT and Hornell.
1925-11-09 "Toronto seeks to reinstate Bugs Hersche." Would like him as pitching coach.

1928-5-25 Called "comical veteran." With Manitowoc of the WISL.

1932-4-02 Bugs originated many of the stunts Altrock/Schacht now use.
1939-3-04 Bill Schuster, new ss for Toronto IL, loves to play pranks. A throwback to clowns like Bugs Hersche and Sarge Connelly. He has been giving Toronto manager Rabbit Maranville some hilarious head-aches.
Tells Bugs Hersche two tales. He almost scared Waite Hoyt out of baseball when Waite was a teenage rookie with Toronto. Funny story.
