1926-8-24 Judge Landis will investigate league.
1926-8-25 "The Gulf Coast League has demonstrated that professional baseball does not pay in a small city. Victoria had a similar experience in the Southwest Texas League but it was thought that with a lower salary limit and a more compact circuit that another league team could be maintained but that was not the case and it probably will be many years before Victoria enters such a venture again...
It is not surprising that league baseball should prove unprofitable in towns like Victoria, Corpus Christi, Laredo, Beeville, Mission, and Kingsville when cities like San Antonio, Waco, Austin, Beaumont, and Galveston have lost money on professional baseball. Not until this year has San Antonio, a city over 200,000 inhabitants, made any money out of its club, and the only reason for its success this year is that it has a winning team."
1926-9-02 Edinburg's series with Brownsville came to no decision.
1926-9-13 Victoria Rosebuds have been playing good ball since withdrawing from league - have steamrolled the finest semi-pro competition. In the Gulf Coast League championship series Edinburg has won two games and Laredo has won one. Edinburg qualified because it replaced Victoria when Victoria withdrew, and Victoria won the first-half title.
